Nigerian Army issues alert on Boko Haram suspects fleeing Sambisa forest [MUST READ]

The Nigerian Army has said due to its ongoing final clearance and occupation of Boko Haram terrorists hideouts in Sambisa forest, a number of the terrorists are escaping the theatre of operation in the North-east to other parts of the country. It therefore warned members of the public, especially residents of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States, to be extra vigilant and security-conscious of strange movements or persons in their areas. Passenger plane surrounded by Maltese forces : Libya Hijack

A Libyan domestic flight carrying 118 people has landed at Malta International Airport after being hijacked. Reports from BBC shows that the Airbus A320 was flying inside Libya for Afriqiyah Airways when it was diverted. There were two hijackers involved, who threatened to blow up the plane, according to initial reports. Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that security forces were standing by at the airport. The deputy mayor for Lija in Malta, Madga Magri Naudi, told the BBC the hijackers had yet to make demands. She said: “The request has not been made. This is a problem: we do not know what their requests are at the moment.” Darrin Zammit Lupi, a Reuters news agency photographer based in Malta, told the BBC he could see a number of soldiers and special forces vehicles at the scene.   Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged people of the south-east zone to “shy away from the spirit of individualism” and unite to achieve the political aspirations that have eluded them. Speaking on Thursday at the south-east security and economic summit in Enugu, Obasanjo, said the zone would not achieve much with continued individualism and lack of cohesion. He said the people of the area seemed to have forgotten their spirit of enterprise and communal efforts, which stood them apart from other ethnic groups in the country. Obasanjo said the zone was unique and that it needed to use its uniqueness to its advantage to negotiate the actualisation of its aspirations. “The south-east is known for their spirit of enterprise and adventure and you have to utilise it for improved development and security,” he said. “You must work together and not be divided. Officer jailed for having sex with rape victim in toilet [MUST READ]

A police officer has been jailed for 22 months for having sex with a rape victim several times and in a McDonald’s toilet. 33-year-old Charlotte Peters, from Luton, was based in the Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command in the Metropolitan Police when she had a relationship with a young female victim she’d been assigned to help. Judge Anthony Leonard at Southwark Crown Court, sentenced her after she previously pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office. Prosecuting officer, Kate Bex, said Peters was in a position of trust and should have known how to deal with the ’emotional impact’ on victims of sexual assault. The court heard that the first sexual contact which started with a kiss on February 24 at the refuge where the victim was staying developed into several sexual encounters including the final one they had in McDonald’s toilet.
