A condemned prisoner, Rabi Ismail, who escaped from lawful custody in Hadejia Prison on December 16, 2011, has been recaptured by the Intelligence Unit of the Nigerian Prisons Service with the support of men of the State Security Service, SSS. According to DailyNigeria, The prisoner bearing number k/22c Rabi Ismail was sentenced to death by hanging for culpable homicide by a High Court in Kano on the 5th of January, 2005. The Police in Lagos State have arrested two medical doctors and two nurses who allegedly carried out abortions on a teenager, who was impregnated by a pastor at the Agodo-Egbe branch of a popular Pentecostal church. The victim was rushed to the hospital and later discharged after it was discovered that the pregnancy was not properly evacuated. The teenager said the pastor had been sexually violating her since she started living with him at age 10. She said the pastor had impregnated her four times, alleging that with the connivance of a doctor, her guardian perfected four abortions on her without her consent. A prominent member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos is dead. Rasaq Bello, popularly called Hamburger, was shot on Monday in the Shogunle area of Lagos during the local council primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was shot by members of a rival gang allegedly led by Samson Agbetoye, popularly called Golden. Golden is said to belong to the MC Olumo faction of the NURTW in the state. It was gathered that trouble started shortly after the council primary in the Shogunle ward was abruptly aborted after members protested the modalities for the conduct of the exercise. No fewer than 14 armed militants have been killed in gun battle with special forces deployed to comb the creeks and rescue the six children kidnapped from Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe, Lagos State on Thursday, The Nation learnt yesterday. The children were born on May 11 at VCU Medical center in Richmond, Virginia. Estranged husband of Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe, Lanre Gentry has expressed regrets over the time he spent with the actress. Gentry made the statement via his Instagram page where he shared a photo of him and the wife. Mercy has separated from him with their two kids. Gentry stated that while he does not regret his past, he regrets the time he has wasted with the wrong people. The actress, however, is currently in the United Kingdom where she shared photos of her visit to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. On Instagram BRC wrote; ‘This is Emmanuel A 6yrs old boy whose stepfather inflicted deep machete cut on his right forearm bone is receiving treatment. The child’s crime was that he bought bread instead of the cigarette he was sent to buy. We sent our rescue team, who took him to General Hospital, The child was later referred from General Hospital to Teaching hospital because the forearm bone is affected and infected.’

Shareholders of Dangote Cement yesterday were full of praise for the board, management and staff of the company after hearing they had been handed a dividend pay-out of N144.8 billion, which translated to N8.50 kobo per share, as against the N8 per share that was paid in the corresponding period of 2015 . Mohammed Dieng, a fashion designer, was on Friday arraigned in a Karu grade 1 area court, Abuja, for allegedly damaging a customer’s clothes. The damaged clothes were said to be worth N138, 000. Dieng was granted bail to the tune of N150, 000. The 26-year-old designer was tried on a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating, which contravened sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code. Hassan Ishaq, the judge, also ordered the defendant to produce a reliable surety in like sum and adjourned the matter until July 19 for hearing. Earlier, Mamud Ismail, the prosecutor, had told the court that one Mercy Ibeh of Garki, Abuja, reported the matter at the Maitama police station on May 15. Ismail revealed that sometime in August 2015, the complainant had entrusted three pairs of clothes to the defendant to sew at the cost of N138, 000. An Ikorodu Customary Court, Lagos, on Thursday dissolved the five-year-old marriage, between Olasunkanmi Oyebola and his wife, Seun, on grounds of stubbornness and late night outing. Oyebola, 48, a village head in Mowo Town, Ikorodu, who sought dissolution of the marriage, also accused the wife of persistently charging her cell phone in the neighbourhood. The Court’s President, Mrs Funmi Adeola, dissolved the marriage based on irreconcilable differences. ” I hereby dissolve this marriage as reconciliation proved abortive, the petitioner should pay N50, 000 compensation to the wife. “The custody of the children is hereby granted to their mother, Mrs Seun Oyebola, 40, an auxiliary nurse, pending the outcome of the family court decision,” she said. A 25-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh, India kidnapped a groom from the wedding altar (mandap) moments before he was to marry another girl.  Bharti Yadav was escorted by two young men who helped her in the act. According to the NDTV,  Bharti and the groom Ashok Yadav had been in love with each other and married secretly. But family pressures forced Ashok to marry another girl. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State has arrested a 21-year-old suspected candidate  for being in possession of firearms in one of the centres of the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the state. Mr Bashir Lawal-Kano, the state commandant of the NSCDC, told newsmen in Lafia on Thursday that the suspect was arrested at the Nasarawa State Polytechnic centre during a search at the entrance to the hall. Lawal-Kano said that the suspect was arrested on Tuesday after he was found to be in possession of  a locally-made pistol and two rounds of live ammunition. He said upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that someone gave him the gun for safe keeping. He said that the suspect would be charged to court for illegal possession of firearms, adding that even registered guns were not allowed at examination centres. A female suicide bomber had cleverly approached a soldier and made love advances on the soldier before detonating her explosive ridden body, a security source has said. According to the source, the female suicide bomber approached a military check point at Konduga pretending to like the soldier, asking for the soldier’s mobile number all in an attempt to get closer to the soldier to explode. “The female suicide bomber came and was laughing and playing that he likes one of the soldiers, she requested for the GSM no of the soldiers trying to get closer when the IEDs on her body exploded,” the source informed. A Nigerian video director and CEO of Hg2filmworks,  Olaolu Akorede,  has been remanded in Ikoyi prison, Lagos, for allegedly poisoning his pregnant girlfriend and killing their unborn child. He was arrested by police on Tuesday and arraigned before an Igbosere magistrate court on a four-count charge of obtaining N2.5 million under false pretense, procuring unknown herbal liquid to terminate pregnancy, maliciously administering poison which caused the death of an unborn baby. Police prosecutor, Okete Ejima, told the court that the accused intentionally procured the harmful liquid for the complainant to kill her and the unborn child. The accused, however, denied the allegations in the open court and the magistrate, O. O. Otitoju, admitted him on bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum. Mrs. Otitoju also adjourned the case till May 22 for mention, while the defendant was taken to Ikoyi prison, Lagos pending when he would be able to fulfill his bail conditions.
