Ambode suspends transport unionism in Oshodi




The Lagos State Government has suspended transport unionism in Oshodi , a Lagos suburb .


This came on the heels of the murder of a popular union leader, Rasaq Bello , aka Hamburger.

The suspension order was disclosed at a press briefing on Monday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transport , Mr . Anofiu Elegushi.

Hamburger was the Chairman of Motorcycle Operators ’ Association of Lagos State , Oshodi chapter.

The decision will affect all the seven branches of the National Union of Road Transport Workers operating in Oshodi area .

The commissioner said while the order lasts , there will be no issuance of tickets or collection of money from commercial vehicles operating in the area .

The Deputy Chairman, Yoruba Unity Forum, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, has asked the people of the South-West to defend themselves with anything at their disposal to stop the incessant attacks by the Fulani herdsmen in the region.
