6-Year-old boy brutalized by stepfather for buying him bread instead of cigarette

Basic Rights Counsel, A Not-For-profit organization that promotes and safeguards the rights of children in Nigeria, by providing Legal and Psycho-social support has rescued a 6-year old boy who was brutalised by his stepfather in Calabar for buying bread instead of cigarette he was sent to buy.




On Instagram BRC wrote;
‘This is Emmanuel A 6yrs old boy whose stepfather inflicted deep machete cut on his right forearm bone is receiving treatment. The child’s crime was that he bought bread instead of the cigarette he was sent to buy. We sent our rescue team, who took him to General Hospital, The child was later referred from General Hospital to Teaching hospital because the forearm bone is affected and infected.’

The Deputy Chairman, Yoruba Unity Forum, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, has asked the people of the South-West to defend themselves with anything at their disposal to stop the incessant attacks by the Fulani herdsmen in the region.
