Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan on Thursday dissolved a 28-year-old marriage between one Omotayo, a mother of seven, and her husband, Akanbi Ojo, over battery and threat to life. A 55-year-old man, Magaji Dansale, has allegedly raped his seven months old step daughter in Marmachi village of Musawa Local Government Area, Katsina State. The study looked at how ejaculation frequency affected prostate cancer risk over the course of 18 years. It found that men ages 20 to 29 who ejaculated 21 times or more each month were 19 per cent less likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than those who ejaculated less often, between four and seven times per month. The federal government says the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) did not breach the standards of production in Nigeria, certifying Fanta and Sprite safe for consumption. A statement released by Boade Akinola, director of media and public relations of the ministry of health, the government said NBC passed a routine test in December 2016. A Lagos state high court had earlier ruled that the soft drinks contain ingredients that could turn poisonous in the presence of Vitamin C. The court also asked NAFDAC to direct the company to insert a warning on the containers of the products that the contents should not be taken with Vitamin C. “In the case of Benzoic acid, the standard set by Codex was 600mg/kg until recently reviewed to 250mg/kg and adopted in 2016. A Lagos High Court in Igbosere has ordered the National Agency For Food, Drug Administration and Control  to, forthwith, mandate the Nigerian Bottling Company PLC, manufacturers of Coke, Fanta and Sprite soft drinks, to include a written warning that the content of the bottles cannot be taken with Vitamin C. In a judgement delivered by Justice Adedayo Oyebanji on Monday, the court warned that taking the soft drinks with Vitamin C is poisonous.   The court also declared that NAFDAC has failed Nigerians by its certification as satisfactory for human consumption, products which in the United Kingdom failed sample test for human consumption and which became poisonous in the presence of Ascorbic Acid ordinarily known as Vitamin C, which can be freely taken by unsuspecting members of the public with Fanta and Sprite. The Senate has again rejected the nomination of Ibrahim Magu as the substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, after the State Security Service, SSS, reaffirmed its position that the nominee lacks integrity to lead the country’s anti-corruption agency. Mr. Magu was rejected on Wednesday, after appearance before the Senate for his confirmation hearing during which Dino Melaye raised the SSS report dated March 14. “In the light of the foregoing, Magu has failed the integrity test and will eventually constitute a liability to the anti-corruption stand of the current government,” the SSS report, read by Mr. Melaye, stated. Although Mr. Magu had answered to the satisfaction of lawmakers earlier questions he was asked, senators challenged his suitability given the report against him by the SSS. Ali’s hearing was the first on the order paper of the senate for Wednesday. The senate had summoned Ali to appear before it in uniform over the customs’ plan to seize vehicles without paid duty. He had written to the upper legislative chamber that he would not be available on Wednesday because he had a management meeting to attend. But the senate was irked by his letter, and it resolved that he must appear before it on the day. However, hours after the senate had adjourned its sitting, Ali sent another letter to Senate President Bukola saraki. A Nigerian sex worker, identified simply as Tina, has been stabbed to death by a client who accused her of stealing his money. Tina, who resides in Ghana, was murdered by a 34-year-old man, Isaac Sackey, for allegedly stealing GH¢120 after he had sex with her. According to reports from the West African country, Sackey handed himself over to the police after stabbing Tina in the stomach and thigh. Sackey was said to have approached Tina for sex at a drinking spot in Accra, where he had gone to have drinks with his male friends. In an apparent response to the Senate’s directive, the Comptroller General of Customs, retired Col. Hameed Ali, has said that he was not employed to wear uniform. He told TVC on Friday that rather, he was appointed to work effectively. The Senate had ordered him to appear before it on March 15th in his official uniform as a customs officer. He was summoned by the fuming senators over the new order by the Customs Service for all old vehicles to pay their customs duty. Customs offered a 60 per cent rebate for vehicles from 2015 below. “No! The Nigeria Customs Service has handed over the 661 pump action rifles seized in January to the Department of State Security for further investigation. The event took place at the Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’ Ikeja command of the NCS on Friday. Chocolate City boss, Audu Maikoiri, has been reportedly rearrested and taken to Kaduna. The report which has yet to be confirmed said Maikori was taken into custody today, Friday by the police. Maikori was first arrested in Lagos on February 17  and later released by the police over his tweets in January in which he alleged that five students of College of Education, Gidan-Waya, were killed by Fulani herdsmen.
